Skin pigmentation disorders are conditions that cause the skin to appear lighter or darker than normal, or blotchy and discoloured. They include freckles, melasma, sun spots. Whether you are white or black, we all face skin pigmentation disorders. Skin pigmentation disorders occur because the body produces either too much or too little melanin. Melanin is a pigment found in our body which gives the color of our hair, skin and eye. Melanin protects our body by absorbing the ultraviolet light.
There are products out there in the drugstore that targets skin pigmentation, products that contain hydroquinone. It is the most effective ingredient that helps reduce and eliminate brow skin discolorations known as melasma. If you would like to try some home remedies for skin pigmentation, you may try the following methods. I’ve not tried them personally but they are the few common ones that people have been trying all these while.
1. I love aloe vera. Many people has been saying how aloe vera helps in the complexion. It also helps to lighten the dark spots as aloe vera contains mucilaginous polysaccharides. Slice the aloe vera and extract its juice or apply the gel directly on the affected area and leave it on for 15 minutes. Wash it off with warm water.
2. What can you do with potatoes which often give you your french fries, potato chips? Yeah, all these food are unhealthy for your body but potatoes give you the sources of starch and aid the skin problem such as melasma, dark circles, hyper and hypo pigmentation. Cut the potato into two and put a few drops of water on the surface and rub it on your pigmented area. A much more effective way (if you have the time), is to grate the potatoes and squeeze out the juice and apply on the pigmented spots for 20 minutes. After that, rinse with warm water. You will see noticeable results in a month’s time.
3. Papaya aids in digestion and also the saviour for skin pigmentation. Grate the papaya and extract its juice to apply on the pigmented area. You will see noticeable results in a month’s time. Papaya contains an enzyme called papain which is used for skin exfoliation. As you exfoliate your skin weekly, the pigmented area will be lightened.
4. Another cause pigmentation (besides exposure of sun) is the dryness of skin. Almond has natural fatty acids and nutrients that can help to moisturise and nourish your skin. By combining almond and milk, it can effectively combat the dryness of skin. Milk is like a lightening agent for the skin. When combining milk and almonds together, you are able to moisturise and lighten your skin, removing any traces of skin pigmentation. First, you need to soak almonds overnight. Then, you need to remove the skin and for a paste with milk. Apply on the pigmented areas.
